Dear Friends and Supporters of Riverside,
We warmly invite you to join us for a special event, our Tree Bee, on Saturday, the 14th of September. There are around 1500 native trees ready to go into the ground and we need some help with achieving this big task.
Our community has made a commitment to look after our waterways to create more habitats for birds and insects and beautify our landscape with NZ flora and fauna. This requires a lot of annual tree planting, and for the first time ever, we decided to invite people from our wider community to help us with this big undertaking.
Riverside land is looked after by the charitable Riverside Community Trust, so your support contributes towards the bigger Riverside mission of creating a peaceful and regenerative space for the people of this region.
While doing a good thing for our environment and providing for future generations, we also want to make this event a special and enjoyable opportunity for people to connect and have fun. The plan is to meet in the morning and spend the day planting trees under the expert guidance of Che Vincent, who will show you what to do. We will mainly be planting out wetland areas so sturdy boots are essential footwear.
At the end of the day, as a thank you to everyone who came, we will provide you with a yummy, nutritious meal at the Café followed by music and dance as an opportunity to socialise and celebrate community.
Please bring your own lunch and water. Start is at 10am and we hope to finish by 4pm and offer dinner from 5pm. This is a family friendly event so feel free to bring your whanau.
We are looking forward to a productive and enjoyable day together.
