Come along to our St Patrick’s Day Ceilidh, an exciting, family-friendly way to celebrate the Irish’s Day!
A Ceilidh is a group dance evening with a live band creating uplifting Irish jigs and reels. There will be a dance ‘Caller’ who gives easy instructions for each dance. No previous dancing experience is necessary, nor do you need to come with a partner.
Footloose Ceilidh band is Nelson and Motueka based, made up of two violins (Sophie Winnington, Tamsin Leenhouwers), Irish whistle and double Bass (Sue Ware), Cello (Fern Leenhouwers) and Guitar (Phoebe Leenhouwers). Our caller for the evening will be Ali Morton. They have been creating excellent Ceilidh dance events for over two years and love providing uplifting music and entertainment for various occasions, from weddings to birthday parties, community events and fundraisers.
A Ceilidh is always great entertainment for the young and old and can be managed by many levels of fitness and competency.
There will be finger food and refreshments available by Class 7 of the Steiner school as a fundraising opportunity to raise money for their classroom adventures. So please bring cash to support them in their endeavours.
Come along for a great evening of light-hearted entertainment, whether you are dancing or watching others dance!
In a true Ceilidh style, you are welcome to bring along an instrument, a dance, a poem or a reading to add to the entertainment. Or simply come along to enjoy the fun!
