You might think the plant in question is just a pesky weed but consider this: it could be a vital component in achieving a sustainable way of living.
John Massey, an esteemed instructor at our Riverside sustainable living workshops, has been enlightening participants on the valuable role of edible weeds for over six years in Plant Food Medicine Workshops. As an expert gardener, beekeeper, seed saver, kitchen pharmacist, and professional herbalist, John's passion for plants has driven his work across various fields—managerial, educational, and trustee roles—over the decades.
His dedication to plants is rooted in his commitment to healthy eating, natural remedies, and ecological sustainability. To him, the natural world is a perpetual source of wisdom, constantly unfolding its secrets, and he thrives on sharing these botanical insights.
Join us for a walk through Riverside Community’s vibrant environment to immerse yourself in John’s expertise on harmonising with nature and valuing what many dismiss as 'common weeds.' Many wild plants hold immense nutritional and healing benefits, though they are often overlooked and not appreciated for their true worth. Understanding their potential can open doors to a richer, more sustainable lifestyle.
All ages and experience levels are welcome – please equip yourself with suitable footwear and sun protection. BYO lunch and water. Meeting point is in front of our Riverside Cultural Centre (follow the signs for the Centre).
As for all our workshops, registrations/bookings for this session is essential – please don't just turn up. Bookings close Thursday, 14th November at 2pm. Book Now
Please note: This workshop is weather dependent. Registered participants will be informed the day before if the workshop needs to be postponed. The postponement date is the 23rd of November.
