At Riverside Community

Attend our Bonsai Tree Workshop for adults and children and spend some quality time with a favourite young person in your life. Bond away from screens and learn a new skill together.

Bonsai is a widely embraced Japanese and East Asian living art form. It involves cultivating and training miniature trees in containers, symbolizing harmony, balance, and patience. Children are fascinated by these “fairy trees,” which offer myriad benefits, including an appreciation for nature's beauty.

Our tutor Che is best known for his excellence with Bonsai and knows the intricate cycle of pruning, shaping, and understanding a tree's responses. In this workshop, you will delve into a practical, hands-on guide to bonsai shaping.

Pairs of adults and children will work together under Che's guidance, exploring how to care, cultivate, and maintain your Bonsai tree. At the end of the session, take home your very own little trident maple tree!

For those who would like to continue their bonsai journey further, larger bonsais will be available for purchase.

Please be aware that this workshop is specifically designed for pairs – one child accompanied by one adult only. Please bring your secateurs along.

Limited to 10 adult-child pairs (9 years and up). Sponsorships are available (just ask). Bookings essential: Book Now
