Theatre Workshops (3x) for Kids (5 to 8 years)

The Workshop dates are:

Wednesday, 2nd October, 10am to 11. 30

Wednesday, 9th October, 10am to 11. 30

Wednesday, 16 October, 10am to 11. 30

Jeux Dramatique is a form of improvisational theatre that does not have a performance as its goal. The only props used are cloths of all shapes, colours and sizes. The children design their own space. Small stories are read aloud, and the children can act out and choose their own roles; they can decide to be a stone or the sun, a person, an animal, etc.

The three workshops encourage children to explore their imagination without limits. Through the stories, they delve into social roles - for instance, the little tiger falling ill and his friend, the bear, nursing him back to health. This experiential learning helps Children understand the concepts of 'giving' and 'receiving'.

Short relaxation exercises and fun games will also be part of the Workshop.

Barbara studied acting and theatre pedagogy in Berlin. She has worked on various projects with people with disabilities, students at elementary school and in holiday programs. She was also part of a children's circus program that toured Germany for many years. She is enthusiastic about the creative process with the group and the use of different methods. It's not just about the end result or performance, but much more about the group dynamics, the development of the children's creativity and social learning and last but not least, of course, having fun.

Barbara has lived in Mahana with her partner and two children for four years. She dedicates herself to working with pregnant women and their families, teaching antenatal classes and working as a doula. Her love of theatre and circus lives in her, and she looks forward to working creatively with your children.

It's important to note that each of the three sessions in this workshop builds on the previous one. We kindly ask for your commitment to all three dates to ensure your child gets the most out of the experience.

Please dress your children in neutral clothes, ideally plain colours. This session will take place at the Community Centre. 

Limited to 8 children. Bookings are essential. $35 total for all sessions per child. Bookings close Monday, 30th September at 2pm.
