About the Event
Due to popular demand, we are running another workshop where you can learn from Tanja how to turn 5 L of milk into a family staple; a hard cheese that ripens in only two weeks.
In this two hour session we will take the myth out of cheese making and show you how easy it is to create your very own delicacy. Give it a go! Winter is a great time to make cheese: the evenings are long, temperatures are perfect for maturing cheeses, and sometimes the perfect fresh milk for your cheese making adventures is right in front of your eyes ;)
No previous experience or fancy equipment required.
Our cheese making workshops fill up very fast, so register your spot early! Limited to 12 participants.
This workshop is proudly sponsored by the Riverside Community Trust. Please contact Tanja (education@riverside.org.nz) to discuss sponsorship options if you are struggling to meet the workshop fee.
Please note that we will be using Riverside Milk which is RAW milk and may not be suitable for everyone's consumption. The Ministry of Primary Industries advises the following: ‘Raw milk may contain microorganisms that can causeserious illness. To reduce the risk of illness, raw milk should be heated to at least 70 degree Celsius for one minute. This is critical for infants, young children, the elderly, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems.’
